Our foundation's goal is to help where help is urgently needed. We work with the utmost care to ensure that your donation actually reaches the people it is intended to help.
This begins with the selection of projects. Every project supported by the Josef Mühlbauer Foundation is reviewed in advance by the foundation team according to strict criteria. First, we want to ensure that the goal of the project is in line with the purpose of our foundation. In case of doubt, we consult with the relevant authorities. Furthermore, we want to ensure that the funds entrusted to us are used not only for projects that are in line with the foundation's purpose, but also for projects that are meaningful and worthy of support in every respect, that the financial resources are distributed fairly and can subsequently only be used for the purpose for which they were requested and reviewed. Only then – and only then – when we are sure of this, do we make the donation available to the project.
If a project is scheduled to run over a longer period of time – for example, the construction of a school in Uganda or the expansion of a hospital in South Sudan – its progress is closely monitored and supervised throughout. We receive regular updates from those responsible for the project in the form of photos and reports on the current status. In addition, where possible and appropriate, a representative of the foundation visits the site in person to gain their own impression of the project status.
Furthermore, for larger projects such as those mentioned above, donations are only paid out in stages. Interim targets are set, and the necessary portion of the total donation is made available once these targets have been achieved. Only when these interim targets have been achieved is the next payment made. This approach also helps to ensure that every penny you donate is reliably and securely used to achieve the selected project.
