Leukäiehilfe Ostbayern e.V. – Construction of a patient house
Leukaemia: This diagnosis changes everything – including for relatives, who have to cope with grief, despair and psychological stress. When a family member has cancer, everyday life revolves entirely around the patient.
However, it is often difficult for relatives who live far away to spend every free minute with their loved ones and offer them comfort. The long journey to the hospital is time-consuming and expensive, and for many, staying overnight locally is financially unfeasible.
Leukämiehilfe Ostbayern e. V. is now building an 18-room patient house on the grounds of Regensburg Hospital, where relatives can stay close to the hospital without stress. This allows them to spend more valuable time with the patient. At the same time, it is intended to be a place of retreat and security where those affected can recharge their batteries.
The Josef Mühlbauer Foundation decided to help and donated €77,400 to Leukämiehilfe Ostbayern e. V. for the construction of its patient house.
